My Recent NYC Trip!

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

If you know me, you probably already know how much I adore NYC. So when my best friend decided that she wanted to celebrate her birthday with her first trip to the Big Apple, I couldn't be more excited to return to the city that holds the other half of my heart. Check out what we did on our fun weekend trip!

Thursday
We landed in NYC on Thursday night and headed to our AirBNB in the Bed Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn. After dropping our bags off we immediately hopped on the train and headed to Times Square. Since Amber had never been to NYC before, I thought we’d get the most touristy thing on our itinerary out of the way first. We then went to sit down for a late dinner at one of my FAVE places ever, Dallas BBQ. After dinner, we checked out a few stores even though it was after midnight (man I love NYC) and actually ran into Teyana Taylor in H&M!

Friday
On Friday we got up bright and early, ready to SHOP! We hopped on the train to SoHo and hit every store that we could. I love all of the little boutiques like Necessary Clothing and even the street vendors ( I got 2 pairs of great sunglasses). After shopping in SoHo we walked a little further into the madness of Canal St. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the aggressiveness of the sellers over there LOL. We did most of our shopping this day ( haul video coming soon!) before meeting up with my friend from college who I haven’t seen since 2014! We had lunch at another NYC fave of mine, Blockheads. That night we all enjoyed a super fun 90’s and 2000’s music themed party in Brooklyn at Littlefield. Such a fun night!

Saturday
On Saturday we got up and made the long journey from Brooklyn to Harlem for brunch at Chocolat ( who doesn’t enjoy bottomless mimosas?) After brunch we explored Harlem a little bit more and ended up randomly walking into a tattoo shop called Harlem Hype and getting piercings! We then headed back towards SoHo to meet up with my big sis from college. We spent the rest of the afternoon with her, hitting up the Patricia Field store which is soon closing as well as a few cool shops on Astor Place. That night I took Amber to a bar that I frequented pretty much every weekend when I interned in NY a few summers ago, Continental. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can get 5 shots for $10 or 7 shots for $10 with the purchase of a drink! We then checked out a lounge called Katra and ended the night with some NYC pizza.
Sunday
Our last full day in NYC! 😔 We met up with one of Amber’s friends for brunch in Tribeca at a cute little spot called Bubby’s. We then did a little more shopping in SoHo before deciding to stop by Momofuku Milk Bar for some delicious cereal milk ice cream and Baked by Melissa for mini macaroons! For dinner I was able to reunite with two more of my Hampton friends who are now living in NYC.

We left Monday morning and as usual I was so sad to go! I love everything about NYC and hopefully one day I’ll be able to call it my home. I’m so glad that Amber had a great first visit and I’m sure we’ll visit again together one day. :)

  4. LOVE NYC! my stopping grounds. Born and raised in Manhattan so I know exactly where you were. The first photo, was that at a High School? If so I was the third graduating class at CPESS. That is where Sa-Fire filmed her music video and my brother was in it. Check it out "Boy I've been told". Well What a wonderful post brought back many memories. Thank you for sharing. If it wasn't at the HS still was a great shot. :) designivintage no longer designitgirl
