I was so excited when I got an invite last week to come out to The Remix Project’s most recent event, A Tale of Two Cities!
I attended their Chicago Ball event back in June and just loved the whole vibe, so of course I had to check this one out as well. A Tale of Two Cities was a showcase featuring Chicago & Toronto music artists with hopes of creating future business partnerships and new career opportunities through the collaboration.
What The Remix Project is all about:
The Remix Project was created in order to help level the playing field for young people from disadvantaged, marginalized and under served communities. Their programs and services serve youth who are trying to enter into the creative industries or further their formal education.
The featured performances included Toronto artists, Jessie Reyez and Sean Leon and Chicago artists, Saba and Leather Corduroys w/ a guest appearance by Towkio. Unfortunately, I ended up missing Saba because this showcase was on a week night and I didn’t want to end up falling asleep at my desk the next morning. However, I did enjoy all of the sets that I got to experience and it was really cool being introduced to some Toronto talent. Jessie Reyez = dopeeeee.
I just love what The Remix Project is all about and I’ll definitely continue to support them….you should too!
